A year and a half ago we sold our 63' Humber 90. Why? Well it was going to cost us a pretty penny this year to keep it on the road and we didn't want to spend money on the car while we were saving for our trip. So we sold it and bought a '85 Mitsy Mirage for $700. It was cheap to run and cheap to maintain, perfect for our situation. Two weeks ago, the gearbox died (long story but it was always going to happen). Friends lent us a spare car for our use till we headed off overseas (thanks Dan and Eddy!). Me being full of Dutch blood, I didn't think it right to accept Pick-a-Part's offer of them taking the Mitsy away for free. Surely I could get some cash out of it right? Thank you TradeMe (despite your ever increasing fees...) - I listed the car for $1 reserve. Today the car was towed out of our concern for $150. Brilliant.
This is one story of many I could tell you of how things have gone so swell for us as we have prepared for our overseas venture. And it will be the only story I tell you today because I should be sorting things out at home, not playing on the interweb and my wife is giving me one of those looks. eek.
Two more sleeps now.
